Good morning!!

How's your week going?

It's another Thursday, and I'm taking this time to sit down and write to share life in the countryside. There's a lot behind the products we send to your home, and the idea is for you to be part of that process...

For me, as you know, agriculture is my passion, so talking about it is a real pleasure 🥰.

Last week, I gave you some tips on how to tell if an orange is good. But today, I won't be talking about oranges, but about another crop I love.

Not only because I love them as a fruit, but because I have trees in my orchards from when they were very, very small.

Have you guessed?

I'm talking about persimmons.

In my opinion, persimmons are a spectacular fruit. Especially the Rojo Brillante persimmon, which is a variety 100% native to Valencia.

Like the Salustiana orange, the Rojo Brillante persimmon was born from a spontaneous mutation in the Ribera Alta del Río Júcar.

But what I really want to tell you about today is when I planted my persimmon trees, which are now eight years old.

In my particular case, I did something different in the world of persimmon planting. It happened that the person who sold them to me (with whom I became very good friends) advised me to plant them small…

Imagine that when the trees arrived at my fields, they were a little bigger than a cigarette.

This colleague of mine had already planted persimmon trees that way and had realized that they worked just as well.

In reality, the difference is that if you bought an already grown tree, it cost €3, and I received a significant quantity of them for free. This was because these were saplings that people didn't want because they were too small, but they were just as good.

Because of this, they even told me that farming wasn't for me. But, guess what…

By the end of the summer, the trees were exactly as big as those that had planted a tree that cost €3...

Sometimes, you just have to dare to do something different.

I'll surely tell you more about the persimmons in my fields later, but for today, we'll stop here.

Just as we care for the trees from when they are tiny, we continue to care for them every day so that, when you place your order on the website, we can go directly to the tree to pick each fruit and send it to your home.

Until next week.

A big hug!
