Good morning!
Have you stopped to think that we only have three months left of this year? 😳
I woke up thinking about that, and the truth is that time gives no respite.
As I always tell you, there are plenty of tasks here, so sometimes we feel like there aren't enough hours in the day 😂.
But the truth is that the days have passed, and the year is already quite advanced…
Enough with the rambling, let's get to what I want to tell you today…
Wait, first, let me tell you that we have delicious Valencian mandarins; it's almost impossible to eat just one. Look at how good they look:

In last week's newsletter, I told you that we were very busy setting up fly traps, precisely to combat the Mediterranean fruit fly.
It attacks in autumn, so we're already dealing with that because it goes for the fruits that are getting very sweet. But we have this ecological and infallible method.

That yellow cone you see there is the downfall of the Mediterranean fruit fly. It has an attractant that makes the fly enter the trap and unable to escape, and there the poor thing stays fried!
The issue has even become a matter of concern for the authorities. The Ministry or administrations have bred sterile male flies.
This is to make it impossible for them to fertilize the female, so she doesn't lay eggs. But would you believe me if I told you they still come?
So, that's why, along with other fellow farmers, we opted for the fly trap option. Do you see the holes it has?

On the walls of the device, there is this fatal attractant for the flies. It has an aroma they like, so they enter through those visible holes, and once inside, they can't get out.
In the field, it's normal to have to do this with various insects because we prioritize our production, but it still makes me sad…
The good thing is that with this method, our persimmons and mandarins are safe 🙏
Speaking of persimmons, can I tell you something?
We are waiting to harvest our persimmons, so if they are among your favorites, stay tuned for upcoming news I'll be bringing from the field.
Don't forget to visit our website to see this season's products.
It's been a lot of work to get back, but we're happy with the products we're harvesting 🍆🥬
I hope this first week of October is treating you well.
See you next week,
A big hug!
