Good morning!

Today I'm writing with my shirt stuck to my back and my hat soaked through. The sun is beating down and the cicadas won't stop singing, not even at two in the afternoon. That can only mean one thing: the fields are telling us something, the season is coming to an end.

⚠️ And I must inform you, {nombre}, we will only be taking orders until 11 AM today.

As you may know if you've been with us for a while, at Campos del Abuelo we don't just sell fruit and vegetables all year round. We do it thoughtfully and with care, according to what the land dictates. And do you know what the land is saying right now? "I can't take it anymore." And when the fields take a break, so do we.

With so much heat, many of our crops have already reached the end of their cycle. The extreme heat causes some fruits to spoil on the tree prematurely, and vegetables not to form as they should. And I'm not talking about them not being perfect; that's not what matters most to us.

They don't have the quality of those we usually send:

For example, tomatoes soften before ripening, peppers get thin skin like paper, and plants start to suffer from water stress (meaning they get thirstier than a tourist in Benidorm without shade).

And not only that. We harvest many of our products by hand, one by one, and with this heat, being in the field at midday is like getting into a paella... where you are the rice.

We can endure a lot (farmers are as tough as almond bark), but we also know when to say enough is enough.

You might still see perfect tomatoes or very fresh lettuces in August at the supermarket near your home, but I'll tell you something: if they're out of season here, it's because they come from far away, have been in cold storage, or have been grown without respecting the natural rhythm of cultivation.

And believe me, you can tell the difference. In the taste, in the texture, and in the environment.

We don't want you to receive a box that doesn't meet your expectations of us. We prefer to stop in time, let the fields rest, and return when the land is ready to give its best again.

This way we ensure that what you eat from our fields is truly seasonal, and above all, of quality.

So, this is your sign: if you want one last box of good fruit or vegetables before we stop, hurry up. In a few hours, we're closing due to the heat.

We're going to take care of the plants, the fields, and also, why not, ourselves. We'll be back as soon as we see the slightest sign that the soil is waking up with the first rains or when the shade no longer burns.

Thank you for joining us for another season. We leave with the satisfaction of having given the best of the field… and also with a great desire to return to deliveries when the time is right.

See you next week!

A big hug,

Agricultor
