How are you šŸ¤—?

Today we have someĀ big news to share with you: Blueberries are back!

And to celebrate this occasion, I thought I'd tell you someĀ fun factsĀ about this berry thatĀ was so popularĀ last year. Get ready, because here we go!

The most logical place to start is where blueberries themselves begin.

Can you guess where they might grow šŸ¤”? On trees? Maybe in the ground, like potatoes or carrots?

No, blueberries, like many other berries, grow onĀ bushes.

When I say bush, you're probably thinking of the small shrubs found in parks and gardens, and in a way they are like that, but if you let them grow, they would exceed 2 meters in height 😯.

To keep them from getting out of hand, Antonio prunes each bush by hand. And he's a true artist with the shears; look how beautiful they are:

This may be interesting, but it's nothing compared to the blueberry itself.

Did you know that the blueberry is in theĀ top 3 healthiest berriesĀ in the world?

And it's no wonder, itsĀ benefitsĀ seem straight outĀ of a moviešŸŽ„.

Among many others, theyĀ reduceĀ badĀ cholesterol, helpĀ preventĀ cancer, helpĀ controlĀ diabetes, reduce muscle fatigue... and most importantly, they're perfect forĀ losing weight!

So many years looking for theĀ panacea, and it turns out it was blueberries all along šŸ˜‚.

However, not everything in life can be good; blueberries also have some downsides.

For example, being a berry, once blueberries areĀ picked, theyĀ stop ripening, so they must beĀ picked at their peak, and as you know, they are not among the fruits that last the longest in good condition.

Fortunately, at Campos del Abuelo, we solve these two problems with ourĀ sustainable harvesting system, without any post-harvest chemicalsāŽ.

Since we pick the fruit that we send youĀ the same day, each day we only pick the blueberries that areĀ at their optimal pointĀ to guaranteeĀ maximum quality.

And because they are so fresh, they can last 10 to 14 days in the fridge (though it would be a shame to have these blueberriesĀ collecting dustĀ in the fridge šŸ˜‰).

Of course, the tedious task of selecting the blueberries one by one to pick only those that are at their ideal point is something no one can take away from us šŸ˜…... We spend hours making boxes.

But it's worth it for this delight. Plus, they are soĀ versatileĀ that you never get tired of them...

You can eat them in a thousand ways, from tarts to salads, and of course, you can always eat them plain 🫐.

We have multiple varieties of blueberries until June, so you have time to tryĀ different recipesĀ without stress.

If you plan to use them inĀ desserts, I recommend these earlier varieties that we started with this week, which have a more acidic touch that perfectly highlights the sweetness šŸ§‘ā€šŸ³.

But if you prefer sweeter fruits, next month we start with sweeter varieties. If you want to know which blueberry is for you, you can contact me viaĀ WhatsApp.

Finally, a fun fact you can share with family and friends toĀ show off your knowledge.

The blueberry is called "blueberry" in English, and it makes sense, because it's blue. However, its flesh isĀ red, and when you wash it, it loses some of its blue. But then... where does its blue color come from šŸ¤”?

Blueberries owe their characteristic blue color to a thin layer of protective wax that they naturally generate; if the thickness of this layer were slightly different, we would see them in another color.

And have you already thought about how you want to enjoy your blueberries?

Have a great week!
