Good morning 🤗!
How's your week going?
Today I was absolutely stunned...
I just found out that vegetables don't exist 🤯!
I know what you're going to say, "but that can't be, I just bought a whole box of vegetables... You're not trying to take my box away from me, are you 😡?".
Don't worry, your "vegetables" are safe and sound 😅, what I mean is, what you ordered are not "vegetables".
Do you want an example?
Clara's artisanal zucchini season recently began.

You can probably guess this one, as it's one of those classic examples of a fruit that looks like a vegetable, like tomatoes!
But it doesn't end there!
Another one that might come to mind is our organic carrots.
There's no way carrots are a fruit, right...?
Don't worry, they're not fruits, but they're not vegetables either, they're tubers, like potatoes!
Well, those are two isolated cases... But what about lettuce? Few things scream 'vegetable!' more than lettuce, right?
Well, I have bad news, because out of the three varieties of lettuce we have, all three are considered leaves...

And so it is with all of them...
But this made me think, where did this term come from 🤔?
Well, the word has been around for quite some time, it comes from the Latin word for "green"; however, its use in the phrase "Fruits and vegetables" became popular last century.
To bring the countryside closer to ordinary people, this term was introduced based on its use.
The idea is simple, if you would put it in a salad, we call it a vegetable, and if you would put it in a fruit salad, we call it a fruit.
Now that I think about it, it's quite similar to what we do.
Do you think that in a few years people will call uncertified organic products "Artisanal"?
Just in case, I'm rushing to patent it 🤣!
Have a great week!
