Hello there 👋!!

How's the heat where you are?

In Valencia, we're boiling... This weekend we reached 32 degrees🥵!

It feels like summer is already here, so it's important to stay hydrated, and in our case, water the plants with cool water to keep them in good shape😉🚿.

As I told you a few weeks ago, to avoid extreme heat, we do these things in the mornings and evenings, and at midday, I work from home, for example, preparing boxes, or answering your messages...

And the other day I read a question about a photo I had uploaded with a bent carrot🥕:

bent carrot

And they asked me if this strange shape was a mutation or something unusual.

Far from it, it's quite normal for plants that grow buried in the soil to have "deformities."

For example, in the case of this carrot, as it was growing downwards, it encountered a small stone in its path🪨, so it had to divert diagonally.

To prevent these things from happening, the farmer told me that after harvesting, she plows the land to make it very spongy.

However, there's always a stone left behind, after all, we're in the middle of the countryside.

You can imagine plowing an entire field just to make carrots grow straight... What a tough job🤪!

When we go shopping, we're used to seeing potatoes shaped like... well, potatoes😜. But we don't usually see carrots that aren't perfectly straight in supermarkets.

This is because when they're harvested, they discard all those that aren't visually appealing, because markets don't want them.

As you know, at Campos del Abuelo, we don't judge books by their covers; instead, we focus on bringing you the best quality product. That's why our carrots may not be the prettiest, but they're packed with nutrients and completely chemical-free.

So now you know, the next time you go to the supermarket and see a bent carrot, you'll know it's not because it didn't feel like growing straight, but because you're looking at a fighter, the story of a life dodging adversities to make it to your plate💪.

Before I finish, I wanted to inform you that it's zucchini season, and Clara has some beautiful artisanal zucchinis (not organically certified) right next to the carrots I told you about earlier; you can check them out in our online store.

Have a beautiful week!
